STATEN ISLAND, NY — Organizers are prepping for a fundraiser set for Wednesday, April 26 from 6 to 10 pm at DeLuca’s Restaurant in Tottenville.
Proceeds will benefit the Near and Far Animal Foundation, a not-for-profit that not only assists local rescuers, but also aids animals across borders.
The foundation also focuses on saving animals.
SPECIAL NEEDS PUPS
Two special need pups — Rosita and Joie — whose story is heart wrenching, will be on hand during the event. Rosita and Joie were saved and thriving because of the compassionate supporters at NAFAF.
Rosita, a chihuahua, has a neurological condition called hydrocephalus. She was found roaming the streets of Santa Domingo.
Joie, a Biewer Terrier, sustained an injury in Texas that damaged her spine and caused her to have limited to no control of her rear limbs.
They both reside on Staten Island under the care of NAFAF — and are now thriving.
NAFAF provides funding for critical medical treatments. They host sterilization campaigns to control overpopulation in rural, impoverished areas. Events such as the Vendor Night at DeLuca’s bring together animal lovers along with some “retail therapy.”
THE FUNDRAISER
The “Celebrate Mom Shopping Event” will see games of chance and a 50/50, and a chance to purchase, jewelry, perfume, cologne, pocketbooks, wallets, belts, clothing, sunglasses, and makeup.
Chairperson is Italy DePompo-Cantone. Those who are interested in learning more about NAFAF should visit www.nearandfaraf.com
